Manifest V3: the great equalizer
Google's Manifest V3 replaced the powerful webRequest.onBeforeRequest API (which could inspect and modify any network request) with declarativeNetRequest (which uses pre-declared rules). This limited the flexibility of ad blockers but also made them more performant and secure.
Extensions built natively for MV3 (like Adless) have an architectural advantage over those that were retrofitted. They were designed from the ground up around declarativeNetRequest's constraints, rather than trying to replicate webRequest behavior within the new system.
